The New York Times’ op ed inviting artists to “re-design Old Glory” so as to make it “represent America as it could be” aka “woke” drew ridicule on social media from cons & libs alike; but, the 1619 Project critical race theory newspaper’s bizarre attempt to stir up yet another hornets’ nest about America’s history may be most memorable for the yawn it inspired from the MSM.
One particularly specious re-design was titled, “Lift Every Voice & Sing”. It borrowed from the famous Revolutionary War “Don’t Tread on Me” and the “Black Lives Matter” flags. Another monochrome gray with stars supposedly “represents America surrendering to its fall from power & loss of the ideals it once stood for.” But, wait, according to the Times’ 1619 Project America never had ideals other than racism. Oh, well.
Breitbart News’ sr. ed. Rebecca Mansour wrote: “Congratulations to the NY Times for writing the stupidest op-ed (if writing is the right word for this) of all time. Fox News noted how a Commentary editor tweeted, “This was entirely unnecessary. In other words, YAWN.
