Traitors Never Die But Do Fade Away

Letter to Ephesians: Social media is awash with calls to prosecute Dem leaders like Comey, Clinton & Obama for alleged treason, even Biden (at least) until he suddenly got a viral terminal cancer. Yet, histories of Benedict Arnold & Jefferson Davis suggest such men may live on, but often in INFAMY.
For many, that arguably inevitable comeuppance may be little solace. But, don’t underestimate it. Is there a name more reviled in American lore than the man who betrayed General George Washington at a time when the fledging nation was its most vulnerable? True, the British “rewarded” Ben for trying to hand over the keys to West Point with a ranking position in its army, a pension for life & a lump sum of many pieces of silver. But, make no mistake his heading up a “legion” of deserters branded him among his new “pals.” And, even that compensation ranked Arnold among the world’s rankest, save Jesus’s Judas. Then, there’s the hapless president of the ill-fated Confederacy, Jeff, who led hundreds of thousands of soldiers to their death for the sake of a rebellion glorifying slavery. Talk about heading up not only history’s most futile but vile lost cause. In the end, even many fellow Southerners would revile him. He’d be in prison for 2 yrs, accused of treason, yet ultimately released on bail after which he wrote a book that nobody now reads.
All of which is not to say no one in the Swamp should be given a pass from indictment for alleged wrongful acts while in a position of power. Yet, both Washington & Lincoln knew in their moments of truth the power of history and what it would do to these adversaries. Neither really wanted to keep the traitors front & center. They preferred to let the nation heal from their treachery ... and to live on without them, out of sight, out of mind. It can be a fate worse than death.
