Travis Scott’s Astroworld 2021 A Travesty In Waiting?

The LA Times wonders whether rapper Travis Scott’s standing-only Astroworld concert was a death trap in waiting. With 50K people packed toward the stage like sardines like this, no one could have seen the potential for 8 deaths or more happening in a human crushing?

Now Fox reports a “security guard, possibly others jabbed with syringes during music fest mayhem.” And, chaotic picture keeps getting painted as more attendees are interviewed. Many may be rumors, of course. Still, a criminal investigation is being launched as to why & how, in addition to the deaths, at least 25 more had to be rushed to the hospital. Fox says 25 arrests have been made, mostly for “trespassing”. Supposedly, the venue could hold 200K so, at first glance, the 50K attending the event was within reason. And “exit doors” were readily available.

Yet, authorities for now have trouble explaining what triggered the “forward surge” that apparently went on for up to 40 minutes and kept mounting in intensity, until the crowd itself began “chanting ‘stop the concert’” as people being crushed in front of them began to lose consciousness. But what in the world KEPT the forward surge going by those in the rear? As for Scott, a source told the NY Post he was “in tears” after learning what had happened while he was on stage. Meanwhile, Fox recalled this year’s 8-death travesty was preceded by fan injuries at his 2019 “festival”? Moreover, Scott was reportedly “arrested in 2017 for inviting” fans at an Arkansas concert to “by pass security” and “rush the stage.” And, AP reports Scott “pleaded guilty” to reckless conduct charges after a 2015 incident at Chicago’s Lollapalooza music festival. By Sunday night, The Daily Mail reported Scott had been sued for allegedly “inciting” the Astroworld crowd.
