Is there anyone who thinks Canadian PM’s reference to “2SLGBTQQIA + people” makes sense? His latest iteration of the oft-misunderstood term for sexual ID was an honest effort to “educate”, but wound up getting mocked online.
Said Fox News: “Justin Trudeau turned heads on the internet with the latest iteration of the acronym for sexual identities, which includes LGBT … but doesn’t start” or end with it. Trudeau was commemorating the Sisters in Spirit vigil that’s dedicated to people of specific if proliferating sexual identities who had gone missing or had been murdered. To quote the PM: “People across the country are lighting candles to honour [victimized] indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA + people … We must continue to work together, raise awareness & advocate to end this ongoing national tragedy.”
As it turns out, Trudeau’s “2S” prefix to the more familiar “LGBTQ” was an effort to draw attention to “indigenous people, from whom the ‘Two Spirit’ sexual identity – which involves both male & female aspect – derives.” As it also turned out, woke “online influencers” didn’t grasp Trudeau’s messaging & mocked him for “button mashing” and other correct culture crimes. British rapper Nzube Olisaebuka Udezue aka ZUBY, posted: “Headbutting the keyboard is now a sexuality.” Video journalist Luke Rudlowski asked: “Is 2SLGBTQQIA his laptop password?” What? Might the PM now be thinking “No good sensitivity posting goes unpunished”?
