Trump’s Covid Vaccines Bite Biden As Pandemic Wanes

Fox’s Howard Kurtz opines “Covid’s decline may be good news for America, bad news for Biden” because he is losing his mandate cudgel ... BUT isn’t it more because it shows Trump was right about his vaccines?

As the Washington Post suggests, it looks like we’ve “turned the corner” on the pandemic as seen in a “thousand subtle ways,” e.g., in football stadiums everywhere filled with maskless fans. “As one expert put it,” wrote Kurtz, “the virus just fades into the background, like the flu’. And yet, as Politico warned, the political paradox would be for Biden or anyone else to keep rooting for more “casualties just to boost” their power. Kurtz goes on to argue that the good news for Biden is that Trump may have insisted on “launching today’s vaccines in warp speed” as THE best antidote to Covid but otherwise botched the nation’s response, while it was Biden who got elected then “rolled out” the Trump meds. In doing so, however, Kurtz forgets it was Biden who disingenuously laid much of today’s anti-vax sentiment during the 2020 election campaign, & in response to his own vaccine naysaying, 80 million still resist his subsequent vax mandates.

Biden’s Covid Greek Tragedy may still be waiting for the Fat Lady to sing. As Kurtz also noted, “the pandemic isn’t exactly over with more than 70K new daily cases & about 1,400 deaths” still plaguing us. The problem going forward for Biden & the Dems then may not so much be in losing their vaccine mandating credibility after insisting so long about how right they were & are, but in constantly having to implicitly remind folks it was Trump who laid the right foundation for fighting the dread disease that, like influenza, will never entirely disappear no matter what any politician says.
