Va Shows Race Card Wounded But Still Dangerous Duck

Fox News’ Martha McCollum opined Virginia’s election of a GOP governor meant the “race card is dead” in politics. But, have the demagogues learned? They never do. WSJ columnist Holman Jenkins also said the contest “was a test of whether Americans like being called racists.” So, they do not. They never will, you think?

Jenkins put the blame for Republican Glenn Youngkin’s unlikely, almost miraculous, victory over Democrat Terry McAuliffe, a one-time governor of the state, squarely on the radicalization of the elephant party that could not see the ten ton racial elephant in the room: “McAuliffe’s [presumably] easy run to the Virginia governorship blew up over the school board [aka CRT] issue, itself an absurd culmination of the Democratic strategy of painting every opponent of their policies as a white supremacist and pro-Trump Nazi. Joe Biden came to the presidency gifted with two vaccines, a rocket ship of an economic rebound, and a mandate for moderation, and yet has acted in office like his only constituency is the left. If he can’t satisfy every policy wish … at least he can give them the white supremacist menace.”

Here’s where Martha and Holman might have suggested “the race baiters among us can’t admit they’ve been wrong and will never learn; most of them having nothing but naïve, failed socialist ideas to offer a electorate worried about kitchen table issues. It's what extremists of all stripes do. So, the addiction to shouting racial slogans when confronted with that reality will likely & sadly continue into the 2022 midterms if not the 2024 presidential race.”
