Will ND Win Title 4 Freeman Be4 Kelly Does At LSU?

Don’t be shocked if Notre Dame’s new head coach Marcus Freeman gets the school it’s 12th national title before ex-coach Kelly gets LSU its 5th BECAUSE the 35-yr-old connects with PEOPLE while the 60-yr-old connects with X’s & Cherry Os.

Yes, you need to be able to draw better talent to win, as Kelly suggested after whining for years at “academics first” ND, but raw talent don’t mean a thing if you don’t have that swing. Note how Kelly said “it’s all about winning the national championship” when introduced as LSU’s new coach … after failing to win one in 12 years at Rockne’s legendary digs, where most young athletes across America dream (at least a little) about playing for. Note, too, how the elevated Freeman in a statement said the same thing. The difference? Kelly’s defensive coordinator saw how his players LOVED playing for him while turning a stinko defense into one of the nation’s best in 12 short months … and, how Kelly’s offensive coordinator, Tommy Rees, wanted to STAY with ND under Freeman rather than follow Kelly to LSU. How often did you see Kelly, in his standard King Tut pose on the sidelines, talk with his players or coaches, except to chew them out, while Freeman cheered on, exhorted his troops but still with an “I’ll eat yo momma if you don’t make a play for me” look?

Being a great delegator like a GE CEO is one thing; it won Kelly a lot of games at ND, but never the big one. How often did his teams barely beat a Toledo as if the play it safe head coach was bucking for sainthood rather than run up the score against patsies & pad polling power points ala the devilish Saban at Alabama? So, will Freeman be the first to take his 11-1 Irish to the top or will Kelly take his 6-6 Tigers to the promised land before that, if ever? If ND somehow backs into the Final 4 this year …
