Jack Smith’s Terrible, Horrible Very Bad Probe

Letter to Ephesians: Let’s pile on Special Prosecutor Jack Smith. GW Law Prof. Turley & a WSJ columnist did for his alleged “total lack of restraint” whilst investigating any connection twixt President Trump & the Jan. 6 rioters, even tho Congress couldn’t find any.

After newly released documents detailed Smith’s Biden Era investigation of the 2020 election, the good professor on Fox’s Hannity telecast opined: “There doesn’t appear to be anyone or anything that was restraining the special counsel … Keep in mind, this is a co-equal branch. This is a very intrusive step. It’s a seriously dangerous step when it comes to the balance of powers under our constitutional system. None of that seemed to be any concern at all.” The WSJ’s Kim Strassel in her “Master Angler” op ed was even more detailed than Turley in calling out Smith’s subpoenaing an unprecedented number of Republicans’ phone records after “casting a net the size of the Republican Ocean … under the auspices of nabbing Donald Trump for the events of Jan. 6, 2021.” Whistleblowers, it turns out, had provided GOP Senator Grassley unredacted copies of Smith’s “197 Arctic Frost subpoenas, encompassing some 430 Republican targets, including WH officials, members of Congress, Trump family members, party organizations, think tanks, nonprofits, donors & journalists.”

Added the veteran pundit: “To appreciate fully the outrageousness of this fishing expedition, remember … by the time AG Merrick Garland named the prosecutor to the job in November 22, the DOJ had been investigating the events of Jan 6 for 22 months & had charged hundreds of people. Yet none of those charged were named Trump.” That’s because there was “no evidence he communicated with any of the Jan 6 actors “like Proud Boys or Oath Keeper on that “awful” day. How awful, then, that awful day’s postscript turned out so awful too?
