Re-Birth of Iran’s Freedom Is at Hand?

Letter to Romans: As anti-war Tucker Carlson reminded, “In God’s Kingdom no sword is drawn.” But a more credentialed interpreter of God’s Will is St. Augustine who in “City of God” clarified, “In our imperfect world,” the Almighty blesses those leaders who put “wicked men to death”. Can’t have your cake & eat it too, no?

Not only is Congress beating its gums as usual over how “imminent” aka “legal” was Iran’s plan to unleash nuclear war on the West, but there are many Democrats, or whatevers like Carlson, questioning the morality of Trump’s & Netanyahu’s pre-emptive strike. Often, these naysayers invoke Jesus Christ who passionately believed His dictum, “Blessed are the peacemakers.” What today’s peaceniks never address, as St. Augustine did, is Jesus’ practical side. That is, His urging followers in this often stinking world to also “Give to Caesar what is Caesars” … and as a “wise serpent” would, to remember it was The Father who put their worldly leaders in their posts who at times have no realistic choice but to protect the innocent from the evil murderers among us. As the great peace-loving yet wise Saint wrote in Book XIX, ch. 7, “They who have waged war in obedience to the divine command, or in conformity with His laws, have represented in their persons the public justice or the wisdom of government & in this capacity have put to death wicked men.”

That THIS interpretation of God’s Will today is morally justified if not compelled can be seen thru human history. Iranians now celebrating in the streets seem to think so. Think, too, the US Civil War against slavery & World War II’s fight to stop fascism’s goal of world dominance, including its Holocaust. What would St. Augustine say about the Islamic Republic’s unmitigated campaign against the Free West & to “wipe it off the face of the earth”? Might he remind us, “Never forget the birthday cake Iran’s newly empowered extremists sent America in 1979 because they never let you forget it since.”
